the answer ?
XLII (42) is, according to the computer Deep Thought, The Answer to “Life the Universe and Everything”, however as Douglas Adams wrote, what’s the question?
My favourite books (TV series, Film) as a child, teenager, and a now as I’d like to think, a Grown Up, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (and the other four parts of the trilogy), possibly inspired, or at least poked my passion of science and technology.
I’m not going to even try to provide the question (what’s 6×9 ?), nor perhaps further answers to life, but I might impart some of my views, or even knowledge, but mostly just opinions on Stuff out there in the world of science and technology that interests me. I don’t consider myself an expert, but a (very) competent user / reader / tester / geek (not a nerd). I do seem to spend a lot of time helping and advising many friends and colleges in these areas. Often sharing the same thing with different people – so why not write it down once and share it many times, here?
So these scribblings are mostly for the every-man wondering what’s going on out there, what might be useful, should I try this, should I do that, though I’d be happy if any techies and geeks chip-in and share their opinions and tips too.
Where’s the Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy now? – Well check out the project that Douglas Adams himself started and is still going H2G2 – much more interesting and friendlier than Wikipedia…
And finally, the iPad is here. Stephen Fry, who was one of Douglas Adams’ best friends said at the end of his Time article. and has repeated several times since: “One melancholy thought occurs as my fingers glide and flow over the surface of this astonishing object: Douglas Adams is not alive to see the closest thing to his Hitchhiker’s Guide that humankind has yet devised.”
I want one!
- but I will survive with my iPhone for now
